I’m a little sad today.

This weekend things are going to change forever.

After 6 years of devotion, confusion, excitement, frustration and anticipation a piece of my life will be gone forever after this Sunday night.

Yes, I’m talking about the television show Lost. This Sunday night is the two and a half hour season finale.

It’s such a strange show, and I’m not just talking about the content of each episode.

It’s strange because it’s a show that pulled people together.

I’m not sure if your experience was the same as mine, but Lost seemed to have this magical power that caused people to want to get together and share in the rollercoaster ride. My friends and I were no exception.

Interestingly enough, we formed a community around watching the show. And, when Lost moved to Wednesday nights for a while we even formed a Wednesday night Bible study around it. We cleverly called it Lost and Found. I’m sure the shows creators had no idea Lost would have this kind of affect on people.

Lost has been so much more than a great television show to me. It’s been a huge part of my life over the last 6 years… and I’m sad to see it go. But, more than that, I’m sad to see the community that was formed around it come to an end.

There will be other reasons to get together. I’m not loosing my friends. I’m just loosing one more excuse to get together each week.

I guess it’s just part of growing up.

Goodbye Lost. You will be missed.

Are you lost too?

Wednesday

Ahh, a day off. Erin and I ran around town taking care of a few errands in the rain before we headed down to my parents for a little Thanksgiving/Birthday meal.

Every year for the last several years my brother, Greg, and I have celebrated our birthday’s with the family the day before Thanksgiving. It’s become a nice little tradition that I’ve grown to really love. Not only do I get to have my mom’s turkey dinner for my birthday, but it makes it easier to split up the holiday with the in-laws.

Thursday

Happy Birthday to me! After sleeping in a little, I opened my present from Erin before it was time to head over to the in-laws for Thanksgiving preparation and celebration. My present from Erin was a pair of the beauties you see above. They are Rainbow Mocca Loafs. Perfect for the Rainbow Sandal lover in all. Now I can, truely wear Rainbows year-round.

The rest of the day was full of eating, football and a little Rook.

Friday

Erin and I ran a few errands before heading out to Long Beach for a friend’s wedding. We had a great time.

Saturday

We spent almost the entire day searching for Christmas lights for our house. They have to be just perfect, you know.

After our long day of shopping we sat down to watch some TV and discovered that we had HBO for free all weekend. That night we watch 8 of 10 episodes of HBO’s True Blood series. I won’t recommend the show to anyone, because of it’s graphic content, but we were hooked by the story line.

Sunday

Went to Church, mowed the lawn, and hung Christmas lights on half the house before we went off to Group.

For group we wondered around the Americana in Glendale and saw the (fake) snow. It was pretty.

We spent the rest of the evening watching the remaining two episodes of True Blood and went to bed.

Let me just say that mtvmusic.com is awesome! I spent a couple hours last night playing around with it. What makes it so great? Well, for the first time in a while, MTV did something to live up to their name. MTV Music is a repository of all their music videos, or at least a lot of their videos.

Last night I watched the new Britney Spears video, some classic Weezer stuff, Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice” where Christopher Walken dances all over a hotel lobby, and that freaky Aphex Twin video I remembered from my high school days.

In addition to videos, MTV has added a social networking aspect to their site. It closely resembles Facebook in look, but provides a place for you to display your favorite videos, and comments you’ve left throughout the site. It’s a pretty good execution, and a decent social networking platform I just wish it could have been incorporated with Facebook, or YouTube. How many social networks does one person need to belong to? If anything that would be my only criticism of the site. Why another social network?

All in all, I applaud MTV for their efforts. I hope MTV Music is wildly successful. I plan to spend a lot of time with it. You should check it out too. You don’t even have to join the social networking part to view the videos.

So, I’m sure you’ve all been wondering. Did he or didn’t he? Well, the answer is yes, yes I did. I did watch two hours of the new 90210 on the CW this week. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Was it good TV? No.

As you can probably guess I’m a sucker for that type show. It stems back to my Saved By the Bell obsession as a child and moved through my Beverly Hills 90210 obsession as a teen and my OC obsession as a 20-something.

I haven’t been able to get into a show of this variety since the end of the OC, mostly because of my busy schedule, but this one seems to have come around at the right time. Plus it’s based on one of my favorite shows of the past.

The premier had it’s share of cameos from the original cast. Kelly’s a main character, Brenda stopped in for an, I can only guess, prolonged visit, Brandon was mentioned by name, and Kelly’s mother was shown in a preview for next week’s exciting episode.

On top of the cameos, many of the shows new characters are actually relatives of the original characters. There’s Kelly’s little sister, and Andrea’s daughter to name a few. I have to admit it was fun to make all of the connections. I worry though, that it might get old pretty quick.

The show itself was the typical high school drama, nothing groundbreaking or terribly exciting, and yet it was entertaining enough to keep me on the couch. I don’t predict a long run for 90210 this time around. While I enjoyed it, I don’t think it had enough to set it apart from the other shows in its genre. I hope I’m wrong. I’d like to see where the writers plan to take it, I’m just not sure it’ll get there.
