1On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” 8Then they remembered his words. (Luke 24: 1 -8)

Each week we set aside this portion of our service to remember Jesus and what he did for us.  We do this by sharing a meal that consists of a little piece of bread, which represents his body, and a little cup of juice, which represents his blood. We do this because he asked that we do so in remembrance of him.

Today as we remember him, let us also remember his words and not forget that our savior died for our sins and rose to conquer death so that we may live forever with a perfect, loving God.

It was brought to my attention last night that a very important event came and went without mention this week. In fact, the person who brought said event to my attention even went as far to check my blog for confirmation of the event and was left confused because of my silence. I am so sorry to let everyone down.

 

The ever-important event I failed to post about was National Coffee Day.  Please accept my apologies.  Of all things for me to miss. I even had a post about coffee this week with Starbucks release of VIA, their new instant coffee. What a shame.  Opportunity missed.

  • Opened stockings with my wife (Santa visited our new home for the first time)

I'm not ready to commit to this, but I'm thinking this year I'd like to eat better, exercise more and read more.  What do you think?  Are those good goals? Should I make them my official resolutions? What are your goals for this year?

I am a little tired today because Erin and I took some friends and family to watch the Rose Parade.  Erin's office building is on the parade route and provides a nice warm place for parade viewing.  We probably got less than four hours sleep the night before the parade and even though I tried to catch up on sleep a little yesterday afternoon, I'm still tired. 
 
Anyway, I'm not sure why I'm typing all of this.  Really, all I wanted to say was that I'm back at work and back on the blog.  Hope you had a happy New Year's Eve and Day.

Erin and I are both on vacation through the 2nd of January.  I think this will be the longest vacation we've ever taken where we are just staying home.  It's going to be great.  I'm really excited.
