Weekend Update

Friday Night was the Battle for Burbank. Every year Burbank High School and John Burroughs High School, the two Burbank High Schools, face off on the football field. This year the winner of the game got to go on to league, which added a little more excitement. While neither Erin nor I have ties to [...]

Keep your GPS out of Area 1

If you have a GPS stay out of Area 1.

That’s what I learned from this week’s Police Reports in the Burbank Leader.

New in Burbank

I'm always excited about the new business and restaurants that come into Burbank.  Here are a few things I've noticed lately.

Wokcano seems to be expanding into the area formerly inhabited by NYPD Pizza. No offence Wokcano but I was hoping for something different.
A new restaurant called Fish Dish is going in over by the airport. Their [...]

LAX Noise Complaint System

This sounds really cool.  According to NBC Los Angeles "Users can access the system at www.lawa.org by clicking on the "Noise Management" link on the left hand side of the page." Now, it's too bad the service wont work for Burbank.  I'd be logging complaints all the time, although that might not be fair since [...]

Verdugo Mountainway Trail

Saturday afternoon Erin, Chris and I took a little hike in the hills above the Nature Center in Burbank.

Car Chases Galore

Did you watch the Bentley car chase last night? I watched about an hour of it, from 11pm to 12am.  Initially I was trying to watch the news to see the story of the car chase through Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, but I never got to see the coverage on that because I was sucked into the [...]

Time Capsule Opened

Looks like they did open the time capsule in Burbank.  Here's the LA Times story.  I can't wait to see what the pictures look like.

Burbank Time Capsule

The LA Times ran a little feature on a Burbank time capsule hidden in the Magnolia Blvd. bridge on February 1, 1959.  The people of 1959 predicted monorails, atomic power, and a park-like city of 150,000.  It's supposed to be opened on February 5, 2009, but like the Times writer, I wonder if it really will.  There probably isn't [...]

Dinner Tonight: Masa

Tonight Erin and I are meeting some friends for dinner at a little restaurant in Echo Park called Masa.  I looked the place up on Yelp and was pleasantly surprised to find that their specialty is Chicago style pizza. Not what I would have guessed from the name. My last foray into Chicago style pizza was Taste Chicago in [...]

More Airport News

The Burbank Leader reported yesterday that the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority is about to start an ad campaign for it's proposed night-time curfew.  I guess they figure that more people need to be made aware of the plans.  Not a bad idea.  I'm all for it.  Let's get that curfew in place already.
