I have multiple email addresses, as I’m sure many of you do. Only two of those are checked regularly: my work address, which I use solely for work related tasks, and my personal address, which I use for everything else.

My other addresses go largely unused for the most part, until today. Through the work of filters, folders and forwarding I now have my addresses all working together.

I began by setting all of my secondary addresses to forward mail to my personal address. Through the use of a filter, mail forwarded to my personal address skips the inbox and goes directly into a folder called Secondary, which I will check periodically. At the same time, my personal address forwards copies of all incoming mail to one of the secondary accounts as a backup, in the case that my primary account has an issue at some point in time. It may sound like a lot of work, but it’s actually quite simple.

Through this system I can also give out one of my secondary addresses when I sign up for subscriptions, contests, etc. and not have to worry about my primary address being corrupted by spam. How about that?
