Here are a few of my most recent CD purchases. I’ve been bad about writing reviews lately so I thought I’d throw three short reviews in one post.
Spoon – Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
I purchased this disk on a whim. I don’t own any previous Spoon albums and pretty much went off of the positive reviews I’ve read on the web. I like it, particularly the first half, or so. Show me an artist who uses piano and guitar like Spoon and I’ll eat it up. Top song pick: The Underdog
Jenny Lewis – Acid Tongue
I love Jenny and probably anything she will ever do musically. Acid Tongue is no exception. Her approach this time around reminds me a little more of Rilo Kiley and less of her previous solo effort, Rabbit Fur Coat. Top song pick: The Next Messiah
Jack’s Mannequin – The Glass Passenger
Enjoyable piano/guitar-pop-rock; but not as good as their previous release, Everything in Transit. I just bought this on Friday so it’ll probably grow on me. Top song pick: Miss California
