Last night the wife and I finally sat down and watched the Netflix movie that had been sitting by the TV for a couple of weeks. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to watch the movie we had all that time, I just felt like I needed to be in the right mood to see it. I was, in no means, in the right mood last night but we watched it anyway and boy was I glad we did.
The move was Once. If you haven’t seen it already, I totally recommend it. I didn’t quite know what to expect going into it, and after the first few moments of dialogue, I was beginning to doubt everyone who had recommended it to me. However, once the two principle characters of the movie met, I was hooked. From that point on it didn’t matter that I had to struggle to interpret their accents. There was just a chemistry between the guy and girl that grabbed me and sucked me in, and when they made music together it was incredible.
There isn’t a lot to the movie, and for the sake of those who have yet to see it I won’t divulge any more details. It is just a simple story, with some beautiful music. It doesn’t pretend to be much more, which is refreshing.
So, if you’ve been putting off watching Once, like I had been, stop it. Rent it, Netflix it, do whatever you need. Just watch it and enjoy an hour and a half of two people making amazing music together. You won’t regret it.
